Ms. Lynn Payne Schug

Ms. Lynn Schug is a 1983 and 1985 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University where she received a Bachelor of Science in the Administration of Justice and Public Safety and a Masters of Public Administration.  In 2002, she earned a Masters of Science in Information Management from Marymount University.  Ms. Schug also holds a Chief Information Officer Certificate from the National Defense University.


In her current role, Ms. Schug is the Chief Information Officer and Director for the U.S. Navy’s Military Sealift Command N6 division where she is responsible for delivering and sustaining secure C4S capabilities to meet the information technology and communications needs of MSC.


Ms. Schug began her technology career with the Department of Criminal Justice Information Systems for the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1985. She transitioned to federal service in 1987. Her assignments have been as a resource and corrections specialist with the Bureau of Naval Personnel, Corrections and Programs Division; the communications officer at Marine Corps Air Station, New River; the deputy assistant chief of staff for installation security, safety, anti-terrorism and force protection at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, a senior program manager for the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C, a resource programmer in the Pentagon for the Chief of Naval Operations (N80) Requirements Branch, and as the deputy chief information officer for the United States Joint Forces Command and as the N6/CIO for Navy Cyber Forces Command in Norfolk, VA.


Her personal awards and recognition include the Joint Civilian Service Commendation Award and the Department of the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award.
